Engineering is a wide subject. It covers all areas of acquiring and applying technical, scientific and mathematical knowledge to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems, and processes that safely realize a desired objective or inventions. It can be broken into many sub areas of specialization such as:
• Civil Engineering
• Environmental Science & Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical & Computer Engineering
• Engineering & Technology Management
• Engineering Science
• Industrial & Systems Engineering
• Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering
The faculty may also have departments under the above names, each having its own research and teaching staff responsible for their own areas of specialization.
Engineering is a popular course among international students in Malaysia. Most of the undergraduate programs take 4 years to complete. Some examples of degree conferred by the Engineering Faculty include:
B. Eng. Electronics & Communications Engineering.
B. Eng. Biomedical Engineering.
B. Eng. Material Engineering.
B. Eng. Mechatronics Engineering.
B. Sc. Software Engineering.
See list of the engineering degrees conferred by the various institute of higher learning. Apart from teaching, established universities focus on the areas of research and offer postgraduate courses in the form of Masters in Engineering or Phd courses.
