Negeri Sembilan, translated literally as “nine states”, is so called because it once consisted of nine separate districts, each ruled by a Malay chieftain. The capital of Negeri Sembilan is Seremban.
The state is often identified with the pervasive influence of Minangkabau migrants from Sumatra which can be seen in the architecture of buildings and houses especially in the quiet villages in Negeri Sembilan where houses spot a unique hornshaped roofs.
