We define Business schools in broad terms to include faculties, college or departments within the university that teach predominantly business courses. Sometimes the term business school may refer only to institute of higher learning that offers post-graduate programs in business either Masters in Business Administration, Doctorate of Business Administration or Phd in Business.

A business school is a university-level institution that confers degrees in Business Administration. Some common subjects taught in a business school are accounting, finance, information systems, strategic management, marketing, organizational behavior, public relations, business law, human resource management, and quantitative methods. Academic programs offered include the BBA, MBA, Executive MBA, Msc and Phd Programs. Apart from teaching, some business schools are also heavily involved in research.

Typically a business faculty or school is further sub divided into more specialized business subjects such as :

• Department of Economics
• Department of Management
• Department of Marketing
• Department of Human Resource Management

Most institute of higher learning do offer business related programs because business courses are very popular among local and foreign students in Malaysia. Every year, colleges and universities register many new business students and many colleges have more than one intakes a year. Most of the undergraduate programs have a course duration of three years while a postgraduate business program such as an MBA typically takes around 2 years to complete.
