Kelantan is positioned in the north-east of Peninsular Malaysia. Its capital is Kota Bharu. The Arabic honorific of the state is Darul Naim, (“The Blissful Abode”). Dubbed as “ The Cradle of Malay Culture” the state boasts of their age-old customs and traditions. The state is noted for its cottage industries such as batik-printing, silverware, wood-carving and songket weaving. The Cultural Centre in the heart of the town is popular as it showcases Kelantan’s rich heritage of cultures and traditions. You can also witness the traditional pastimes of the people such as kite-flying, top-spinning, traditional Malay music and the “wayang kulit” ( a puppet show).
